The Power of Being : Embracing the Essence Beyond Doing

During my morning meditation practice, I received this download of insight (I'm sure I'm not the only one who this happens to) around how easy it is for us humans to slip into taking action and becoming focused on what we DO. In a world that seems to prioritize constant action and accomplishment, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind. So much, that it was a challenge for me to sit in meditation, instead of moving to my computer and capturing these insights. There was this perceived fear that the moment would escape me and the knowledge would suddenly be lost. But what if we allowed ourselves more space to BE, knowing that this is the often overlooked essence of what makes us human?

From the moment we meet someone new, our conditioning has us often asking about their occupation, achievements, and what's new in their lives. But just think about it. When we reminisce about the people who have touched our lives, what stands out most? Is it their job or what they have done? Rarely. Instead, it's the way we felt around them. The qualities that resonated with us on a deeper level. Ever notice the people who give you their full attention and presence? I notice those are usually the ones I want to spend time with, not those who are rushed around from task to task.

Imagine a shift in perspective. What if, instead of fixating on doing, we started prioritize being? What if we shifted our focus to the values and connections that define our existence? When we embrace the art of being, we reconnect with what truly matters to us, anchoring ourselves in our core values and beliefs. Rather than chasing external validation or societal expectations, we align our actions with our inner truths.

In this paradigm, success isn't measured by the number of tasks checked off a to-do list, but by the richness of our experiences adn the depths of our relationships. We cultivate empathy, compassion, and presence, fostering a more harmonious connection with ourselves and others.

Consider the implications of this shift in the context of your life. How often do you rush through your day, consumed by busyness and productivity? What if, instead of striving to do more, you allowed yourself the space to simply BE - to savour the present moment, to nourish your soul, to bask in the beauty of existence?

In the end, the choice is yours. You can continue on the path of relentlessly pursing DOING, or your can embrace the transformative power of BEING. After all, let us remember that we are human beings, not human doings - and in that realization, discover a world of infinite possibilities. Needless to say, I am grateful I continued to sit in meditation this morning and allow the writing to channel through me later today. It truly helped me bring presence as I moved through the rest of my day.
