One of the Biggest Misconceptions About Living in Alignment

Somewhere along the way, many of the personal development gurus sold us the idea that once we find our purpose, everything becomes easy.

Find your purpose/dharma/calling and you'll suddenly wake up feeling inspired every day. You'll have endless energy. The right opportunties will constantly flow towards you. Burnout will become a thing of the past...

But here's the thing. I don't believe that's how alignment works. Living in alignment doesn't remove your humanity.

Yes, you may feel more excited, and have more energy. But you will still need rest. You'll still have seasons where your body asks you to slow down. You'll still encounter resistance, uncertainty, grief, and moments where the next step feels scary and uncomfortable.

And sometimes, you'll even find yourself saying no to something that feels deeply aligned. Not because it's the wrong opportunity, but because it's the wrong timing. Because your capacity is full. Or because the 'yes' is coming from a protective part that doesn't want to disappoint others.

Learning to distinguish between those voices is part of becoming aligned. In fact, I would argue it's one of the most important parts. Alignment isn't about saying yes to every opportunity that excites you. Because believe me, as someone who has multiple passions and interests, I could say YES to so many things. Alignment is about learning to recognize who is making the decision. Is it the grounded, compassionate SELF that can hold both your vision AND your limitations? Or is it the people pleaser, the achiever, the perfectionist, or the fearful one?

One way to get clear on this, is to have a practice that allows you to regulate and ground yourself. To allow yourself the space to rest and reconnect. And to know when rest is more important than saying YES, even if it's something that feel aligned. Because living in alignment doesn't mean you'll never feel tired. What if it means you stop abandoning yourSELF in the pursuit of becoming who you think you should be?

Trust me. Purpose without capacity can still lead to burnout. But purpose supported by regulation, boundaries, community, and rest becomes sustainable. That is the kind of alignment I want to help people build. Not a life that looks perfect from the outside, but one that you actually have the capacity to live.

With Love,
